Nissan's first plug-in hybrid pickup goes on sale in Mexico in October, with Australia and New Zealand following in 2027.
Nissan says the Frontier Pro and Navara Pro pickup is its first model designed and built in China for export. Sales begin in October in Mexico, the first market outside China to launch it. It will also launch as the Navara Pro in the Philippines and the Middle East in 2026, with Australia and New Zealand following in 2027.
Nissan has started a worldwide rollout of the new Frontier Pro and Navara Pro pickup, announced on 8 October. Mexico becomes the first market outside China to receive it, with sales starting in October in a country where Nissan is the market leader.
Powertrains and design
Nissan says the pickup is offered with 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter plug-in hybrid options and a conventional petrol or diesel engine option, with availability varying by market. The plug-in hybrid is Nissan's first electrified pickup, and it provides vehicle-to-load power for external equipment. The pickup is designed for work, family and everyday life, with a rugged, durable design and a spacious five-seat interior. Nissan also points to intuitive technology and everyday comfort, which it says add refinement and versatility. The launch advances Nissan's Vision of Mobility Intelligence for Everyday Life, the company says. The Middle East will receive the combustion version, while the plug-in hybrid will be sold in Latin America, ASEAN and Oceania.
Made in China for export
Zhengzhou Nissan Automobile, Nissan's joint venture in China, designs, develops and manufactures the pickup. Nissan says it is built to the company's global quality and durability standards. Nissan has also said it will ship the N7 electrified sedan out of China for ASEAN and Latin American buyers. Nissan describes China as a key centre for product innovation, engineering and manufacturing, and says the pickup combines Chinese speed and competitiveness with Nissan's engineering know-how.
Guillaume Cartier, Nissan's chief performance officer, says the pickup combines advanced technology, strong performance and Nissan's quality and durability, and reflects its Dare Beyond ambition. Nissan describes the pickup as part of a wider effort to make better use of its lead markets and partnerships, and to react more quickly to shifts in what customers want.
Markets and timing
Mexico opens sales in October 2026, with the Philippines starting in November. Launches in the Middle East and across the rest of Latin America come by the end of 2026, and Australia and New Zealand follow in 2027. Nissan says it has sold over 15 million pickups across more than 140 markets, starting with the Type 13 truck in 1934.
