The full-hybrid Octavia comes as a hatchback and estate in Selection and Sportline trims, with 100 kW or 125 kW outputs and first deliveries due in December 2026.
Skoda says the Octavia is its first model with a full-hybrid powertrain, announced on 5 October. The system pairs a 1.5 TSI petrol engine with two electric motors and can drive the car on electricity alone for up to about two kilometres, without external charging. Orders open in October, with first customer deliveries scheduled for December 2026.
Skoda announced on 5 October that the Octavia is the first Skoda model to use a full-hybrid powertrain. The full hybrid will be sold as a hatchback and an estate, in Selection and Sportline trim levels. Orders open in October, and first customer deliveries are scheduled for December 2026.
Standard kit includes a 13-inch infotainment screen, a 10-inch Virtual Cockpit display and a tailgate badge reading HYBRID, compared with models that run on a combustion engine alone.
How the system works
The powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI evo2 combustion engine with two electric motors, plus a single-speed automatic gearbox and an automatic clutch. The smaller motor mainly acts as a generator and starts the engine. The larger traction motor drives the front wheels and recovers energy when the car brakes. Skoda says the system moves on its own between all-electric driving, series mode and parallel mode.
Series hybrid mode is used mainly up to about 60 km/h, along with situations where the battery charge drops or the driver asks for stronger acceleration. Parallel mode takes over above that speed and during steady driving, when a direct mechanical link is more efficient. Skoda says the battery can cover up to about two kilometres in all-electric driving before the engine starts.
The 1.6 kWh gross battery has its state of charge held between 40% and 90% automatically, and it sits under the rear seats. Both versions use identical electric motors and are electronically capped at 180 km/h. Johannes Neft, Skoda's chief development officer, describes the full hybrid as a technically versatile option that gives customers more choice in the powertrain range.
Outputs and space
System output comes in two levels, 100 kW and 125 kW. Both use a 1.5 TSI petrol engine, which produces 96 kW in the entry version and 110 kW in the stronger one. The Octavia's petrol tank holds 40 litres.
Luggage capacity is 460 litres, growing to 1,400 litres when the rear seats are folded. The estate offers 485 litres, rising to 1,540 litres. Skoda has positioned the full hybrid as an everyday option that works the same way in hatchback and estate form.
