The short answer

Toyota's TR010 HYBRID cars race in Spain on 18 October, in the second-last round of the 2026 WEC season. The team leads the manufacturers' standings by 23 points. The #8 crew sits top of the drivers' table, with the #7 crew 10 points behind.

Toyota Racing is set to race at the inaugural 6 Hours of Barcelona, held on 18 October, the penultimate round of the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship. The team says its third win of the season, at Fuji Speedway, extended its lead in the manufacturers' standings to 23 points. Its pair of TR010 HYBRID crews occupy first and second in the drivers' championship.

The #8 and #7 crews

The #8 crew of Sebastien Buemi, Brendon Hartley and Ryo Hirakawa claimed a second win this season, lifting them to the top of the drivers' standings. The #7 crew, made up of Mike Conway and Kamui Kobayashi with Nyck de Vries, is 10 points behind. Buemi is set to make history as the first driver to hit 100 WEC starts at this round. He has been part of the team since its debut at Le Mans in 2012, and is the sole active driver to have done so. He has won 28 times, including four at Le Mans, on the way to four World Championship titles.

Conway, who announced earlier this month that he will leave full-time racing at the end of the WEC season, is racing in what will be his penultimate race. Kobayashi, who is team principal as well as a driver, said there is no room for mistakes with two races left, and that the team must maximise results with both cars.

The track and the schedule

The race is a fresh entry on the WEC calendar. Together with November's Monza race, it replaces the rounds first planned for the Middle East. The 4.657km circuit at Montmelo, about 30km north of Barcelona, has been on many championship calendars since it opened in 1991. It is the series' first race in Spain, although WEC visited the circuit for its pre-season Prologue test in July 2019.

Friday 16 October brings two free practice sessions for the TR010 HYBRIDs. Final practice and qualifying take place on Saturday at 3.40pm CEST, and the race begins at midday CEST on Sunday. Hartley says Barcelona was his first official appearance for Toyota, at the 2019 Prologue. Hirakawa says the team has not tested the car at the circuit, unlike some rivals, but is optimistic after the Fuji win.
